Kloster Weltenburg

Weltenburg, Bayern - Germany
Weltenburg Abbey was founded by Irish-Scottish wandering monks named Eustasius and Agilus von Luxeuil around AD 600, making it the oldest monastic settlement in Bavaria. Around the year 800, the abbey adopted the rules of Saint-Benoît. Seven Benedictine monks still live in the Weltenburg monastery today. Thomas Maria Freihart has been the abbot of the monastery since 1998. Among other things, the monks work as pastors and take care of the guests in the meeting place St. Georg.
