Club Maté is a non-alcoholic sparkling drink made from the Yerba Maté leaf. Maté is mainly grown in South America and contains a lot of natural caffeine. In 1924 a German brewer is interested in this leaf with a very strong taste and surprising virtues. He developed the first Club Maté recipe and started to distribute it to farmers in the region. A few years later, the German hackers of the Chaos Computer Club made it their drink of choice. Since the 2000s, without any marketing or communication plan, Club Maté has become a symbol of Berlin's party scene. Its benefits and philosophy have been enough to win over the masses.
