Hamont-Achel, Vlaanderen - Belgium The Trappist Abbey of Notre-Dame de Saint-Benoît is located in Achel, on the Dutch border. It was for a long time the only abbey not to brew its own beer. It was only in 2016, with the help of the Westmalle brothers, Father Marc from Orval and Antoine Rochefort, all under the direction of brewer Marc Knops, that Achel beer was born.
