Oceanside, NY - USA Barrier Brewing was founded in 2009 by Evan Klein and began operating on a 1-barrel system. The goal was to produce world-class beers in a wide range of styles, a formula that still holds true today. Although small, the brewery produced over 600 barrels of beer in its first year, serving customers on Long Island, New York City and upstate New York. In June 2012, Barrier moved to a new location and larger operation (5-tank 5-barrel brewhouse), capable of producing 4,000 barrels per year. Then "Superstorm" Sandy made landfall in October and Barrier's closed for 4 months. Times were very hard, but at no time was there any question of giving up. Thanks to their courage and the solidarity of the local brewing community, they were able to resume beer production in February 2013. Fast forward to 2018. Barrier now operates on a 3-vessel, 20-barrel brewhouse, capable of producing over 9,000 barrels per year.
