Beak - SweetSpot - 7% - 44cl - Can
Description
One of the pitfalls of creating higher ABV beers is ending up with a cloying residual sweetness. For our latest release – SWEETSPOT – we set ourselves the challenge of brewing a 7% IPA that would hit that hallowed hot spot between drinkability and full-mouthfeel. We’re really happy with the results. Oats, Maris Otter and multiple additions of Simcoe, Citra and Nelson Sauvin combine to create an India Pale Ale that is at once minerally and juicy with massive aromas of orange, tangerine and lemon zest, along with a delectable weedy/piny/dankness.

Beak began life as a nomadic project run by food and drink writer Daniel Tapper, who spent several years honing his recipes with friends at some of the UK’s greatest breweries. The project then laid roots in the East Sussex town of Lewes in 2020 where it also runs a taproom and street-food canteen. Though best known for its hop-forward IPAs, the brewery also makes a wide range of beers from crisp and clear pilsners to decadent imperial stouts.
