Our label proudly features a large capital ‘B’, which can be interpreted in whatever way you like – as a reference to Bertinchamps, to Belgium, to beer, or to Benoît… Our family was looking for a site with character on which to set up a new brewery and thus continue the long list of beers already brewed by our father, Benoît Humblet. In 2011, near Gembloux, we discovered the old square-shaped farmstead in Bertinchamps, situated amidst the fields in a superb setting, but in a sorry state. The farm required a complete renovation, so we set to work straight away, often getting our hands dirty with the concrete ourselves. Then, in March 2013, our ultra-modern brewing facility, with an annual capacity of 6,000 hl, was installed in the old barns – a striking contrast between cutting-edge technology and a site dating back more than seven centuries. We settled in Bertinchamps, where chance led us after Zaire, the Central African Republic, Cameroon, Brussels, Strasbourg and Val-Dieu… The whole family threw themselves into this mad project: creating and developing new farmhouse beers, but also restoring a vast, derelict site.
