De Dochter van der Korenaar is based in the village of Baarle-Hertog in northern Belgium where some houses are located both on Belgian and Dutch territory.The origin of the name of the brewery comes, according to Ronald Mengerink, from the fact that Charles V appreciated beer so much that he wrote that he preferred the juice of the daughter of the ear of wheat (dochter van de korenaar) to the blood of the bunch of grapes!
