Making variations on simple beer styles is always a lot of fun. We have made 6 or 7 bitters over the last year and a half and have continuously explored different malts, hops and yeasts while staying true to the style. This time we have used a blend of two caramelized malts to achieve both the caramel flavours but also to contribute some of the maltier biscuit notes. German Carabohemian achieves the latter. It carries caramel malt flavours but it is not overly sweet and has plenty of biscuit and bready notes with an ever so slight toasty quality. With a base of Maris Otter and flaked wheat and hopped solely with Fuggles, this should please all lovers of this low abv beer style.
