Description

To mark the 500th anniversary of the Reinheitsgebot, our master brewers developed a new beer in 2016, presented in new packaging: Hofbräuhaus Hellen. ‘Hofbräuhaus Hell’ is a Munich lager with exceptional character. Fresh, crisp and with a unique flavour – a delight for all beer connoisseurs who appreciate the traditional Bavarian way of life! It doesn’t get more Munich than this: a genuine Munich beer, a genuine Munich brewery and a genuine Hofbräuhaus.

Hofbräuhaus

Munich, Bayern - Germany Hofbräu München or Staatliches Hofbräuhaus im München (litt. “State court brewery” in German) is the name of one of the largest breweries in Munich, belonging to the Land of Bavaria. The brewery runs and owns the Hofbräuhaus am Platzl brewery and restaurant, the Hofbräukeller beer cellar and the Hofbräu-Festzelt Oktoberfest pavilion. It was founded on the site of the Hofbräuhaus am Platzl in 1589 by Duke William V of Bavaria and initially provided a royal service because beer was then imported from Einbeck. In 1852, it was fully integrated into Bavaria by King Maximilian II of Bavaria. In 1896, in the face of its popular success, it had to split its activities by moving the production of beer to the surrounding area of Munich (to Haidhausen, where the Hobräukeller is currently located), retaining its original walls (frequented by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Vladimir Lenin and Adolf Hitler among others), as bierpalast, the city's first tourist attraction.
