Villers-devant-Orval - Belgium

Located in the Abbey grounds, the Orval Brewery was created in 1931 to finance the enormous reconstruction work in Orval. From the beginning, it employed lay workers, including the brewmaster, Pappenheimer, who invented the recipe. The commercial policy of the brewer was adapted to the values of the monastic community. The income from the royalties generated by the brand goes to social works and the maintenance of the buildings, according to the label "Authentic Trappist Product".

The distinctive fruity and bitter taste of Orval beer makes it a true reference in the exclusive world of authentic Trappist beers. First brewed in 1931, it owes its unparalleled taste to the quality of the water, hops and yeast used. The brewery has selected very aromatic and unique hop varieties, reminiscent of Orval's first brewer from Bavaria. The beer's aromas are very pronounced while maintaining the right level of bitterness thanks to the English dry hopping method.
